Another book by Julian Barnes! Originally from 1984 and one of his earlier books, it isn't one of my favourites. It took a while to engage in the story, and I wasn't as charmed by it as I've been by most of his other novels. We follow a retired Flaubert scholar, trying to track down which of
two stuffed parrots belonged to Flaubert. Woven into this are stories about Flaubert's life and and about the scholar himself. Still, a good read, and shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize in 1984.
